Procedure: To a solution of 2 g of 2-aminododecanol, 3 g of triethylamine in 50 ml of dichloromethane is added 3.5 g of octanoyl chloride. The reaction mixture is stirred overnight and then quenched by pouring into ice. This is extracted with dichloromethane and the organic solution is washed with aqueous bicarbonate solution, water and brine. The organic phase is dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to give 3.8 g of the product. quenched by pouring into ice This is extracted with dichloromethane the organic solution is washed with aqueous bicarbonate solution, water and brine The organic phase is dried over magnesium sulfate filtered concentrated
