Procedure: 14.207 g (113.46 mmoles) of heptyl cyanide, 10.726 g (144.69 mmoles) of N-methylethylenediamine and 0.5 ml of carbon disulfide were mixed and heated at 125° C. for 24 hours. The solution was cooled, diluted with ethyl acetate and extracted with dilute hydrochloric acid. The acidic solution was basified with sodium hydroxide and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic extracts were treated with charcoal, filtered, concentrated and Kugelrohr distilled at 105° C./1.2 mm to give 19.73 g (77.3%) of the product. The solution was cooled extracted with dilute hydrochloric acid extracted with ethyl acetate The organic extracts were treated with charcoal filtered concentrated Kugelrohr distilled at 105° C./1.2 mm

Procedure: Methanol (2.81 g) and methyl acetate (30 ml) were added to octanenitrile (10.00 g), and the mixture was cooled to 0° C. Hydrogen chloride (7.50 g) was added and the mixture was stirred for 25 hours at the same temperature. Methylcyclohexane (60 ml) was added to the reaction solution, and then the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. Methylcyclohexane (20 ml) was added to the residue, the mixture was stirred for 1.5 hours at room temperature, and then crystals were filtered. The crystals were washed with methylcyclohexane and dried under reduced pressure to give the title compound as a white solid (14.45 g, 93.4% yield). the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure Methylcyclohexane (20 ml) was added to the residue the mixture was stirred for 1.5 hours at room temperature crystals were filtered The crystals were washed with methylcyclohexane dried under reduced pressure

Procedure: Octanonitrile (1 g, 7.99 mmol) and hydroxylamine (50% in water, 0.74 cm3, 0.79 g, 12 mmol, 1.5 eq) in EtOH (1 cm3) were stirred at room temperature for 7 days. Water (10 cm3) was then added. This caused crystals to precipitate, these were collected by filtration and dried in high vacuum line to give the product N′-hydroxyoctanimidamide (0.94 g, 74.6%) as a white solid, mp 73-75° C. This caused crystals to precipitate these were collected by filtration dried in high vacuum line

Procedure: To a solution of 1.66 g (23.9 mmol) of hydroxylamine hydrochloride in 11 mL of isopropyl alcohol, 2.95 g (35.1 mmol) of sodium bicarbonate was added. The resulting mixture was stirred at 25° C. to 30° C. for 10-15 min. 2.0 g (15.97 mmol) of octanenitrile was added and stirred at 80° C. to 85° C. for 3-4 h. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was cooled to 25° C. to 30° C., filtered and washed with 2 mL of isopropyl alcohol. The filtrate was collected and distilled to obtain a crude residue. The residue was chased with 5 mL of toluene, to yield the title compound. stirred at 80° C. to 85° C. for 3-4 h After completion of the reaction the reaction mixture was cooled to 25° C. to 30° C. filtered washed with 2 mL of isopropyl alcohol The filtrate was collected distilled to obtain a crude residue
