Procedure: The objective compound was prepared by the same procedure for the intermediate 1, using a 2-phenyl-propionic acid (2.00 g, 13.3 mmol), SOCl2 (2.28 mL, 40.0 mmol), and 2-amino-4,5-dichloro-benzoic acid methyl ester (1.95 g, 8.88 mmol). After normal workup, the pure objective compound (2.97 g, 95%) was obtained as pale yellow solid by a flash column chromatography (n-hexane:EtOAc=20:1): 1H NMR (200 MHz, CDCl3) δ 1.59 (d, J=7.1 Hz, 3H, CH3), 3.70-3.89 (m, 4H, CO2CH3& CH), 7.28-7.42 (m, 5H, ArH), 8.03 (s, 1H, ArH), 8.99 (s, 1H, ArH), 11.00 (br s, 1H, NH).

Procedure: The title compound (0.95 g, 50%) was prepared from methyl 2-amino-4,5-dichlorobenzoate and 4-chlorosulfonyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole as in Example 1, Part A (without DMAP). 1H NMR (500 MHz, CDCl3): 11.21 (s, 1H), 8.39 (dd, J=7.1, 1.0, 1H), 8.25 (dd, J=8.8, 1.0, 1H), 7.94 (s, 1H), 7.91 (s, 1H), 7.74 (dd, J=8.8, 7.1, 1H), 3.93 (s, 3H).

Procedure: Methyl 2-amino-4,5-dichlorobenzoate (2.1 g, 9.41 mmol) was dissolved in THF (15 mL) and water (30 mL) was added. LiOH (0.79 g, 18.8 mmol) was added the mixture was stirred overnight at rt. The product was precipitated by addition of 10% aq. HCl (30 mL) and isolated by suction filtration. The white solid was dried under vacuum (1.6 g, 81%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6): 7.78 (s, 1H), 7.01 (s, 1H). The product was precipitated by addition of 10% aq. HCl (30 mL) isolated by suction filtration The white solid was dried under vacuum (1.6 g, 81%)
