Procedure: A solution of the above N-[(4R)4-chromanyl]-2-methoxyacetamide (2.2 g, 0.0325 mol) in ethanol (100 ml) and concentrated hydrochloric acid (30 ml) was heated at reflux for 12 hours, then evaporated.
