Procedure: Potassium carbonate (0.92 g, 6.6 mmole) is added to a solution of 3-hydroxyphenylurea (1 g, 6.6 mmole) in dimethylformamide (20 ml) and said mixture is stirred for 10 minutes at 20° C. A solution of N-cycloheptyl-5-[benzyl-(2-chloroethyl)amino]pentanamide (2.21 g, 6 mmole) in dimethylformamide (20 ml) is then added dropwise, the mixture being kept under agitation for 4 hours at 80° C. The solvent is evaporated under reduced pressure, then the residue is taken up in dichloromethane (50 ml) and washed with water. The organic phase is collected and dried then, after evaporation of the solvent, the desired compound is obtained in the form of an oil. It is purified by flash chromatography over silica gel in a mixture of dichloromethane/methanol (95/5) to give 1.75 g (60%) of pure compound. NMR-1H (CDCl3),;1.30-1.90 (m, 16H), 2.12 (t, 2H, J=6 Hz), 2.53 (t, 2H, J=6 Hz), 2.80 (t, 2H, J=6 Hz), 3.63 (s, 2H), 3.95 (m, 1H), 4.07 (t, 2H, J=6 Hz), 4.93 (s, 1H), 5.55 (m, 1H), 6.68 (m, 2H), 7.19 -7.30 (m, 9H). the mixture being kept under agitation for 4 hours at 80° C The solvent is evaporated under reduced pressure washed with water The organic phase is collected dried after evaporation of the solvent

Procedure: A mixture of 45.6 g (0.3 mole of 1-(3-hydroxyphenyl)urea, 94.5 g (0.6 mole) of 1-bromo-3-chloropropane, 124.4 g (0.9 mole) of anhydrous potassium carbonate and 1 liter of acetone was heated at reflux with mechanical stirring for 20 hr. The mixture was concentrated and the residue was slurried with 1.5 liters of water. The mixture was filtered and the filter cake was recrystallized from 2-propanol to yield 57.0 g (83%) of off-white solid, m.p. 141°-143° C. was heated at reflux The mixture was concentrated The mixture was filtered the filter cake was recrystallized from 2-propanol

Procedure: 1-(3-Hydroxyphenyl)urea (2.00 g), p-tolylboronic acid (3.57 g), and Cu(OAc)2 (2.63 g) were dissolved in 150 mL of THF, and 5.32 mL of pyridine was added. The reaction was stirred at room temperature overnight, then filtered through Celite with the aid of 200 mL EtOAc. The filtrate was washed with water, 0.2N CuSO4, 0.5N NaOH, and brine, and dried over Na2SO4 The solution was concentrated to a solid that was taken up in 200 mL of dichloromethane and stirred at room temperature for about 1 hour, after which time it was filtered to give 1-(3-(p-tolyloxy)phenyl)urea as white solid. The material was used in Step B without further purification. filtered through Celite with the aid of 200 mL EtOAc The filtrate was washed with water, 0.2N CuSO4, 0.5N NaOH, and brine dried over Na2SO4 The solution was concentrated to a solid stirred at room temperature for about 1 hour after which time it was filtered

Procedure: 0.03 mole (4.56 g) of 3-ureido phenol is dissolved in 100 cc of isopropyl alcohol to which have been added 100 cc of ammonia at 22° Be. 350 g of crushed ice are then added to this solution. The resulting reaction mixture is maintained at about 0° C., and there are introduced simultaneously, with good agitation and with the aid of a double funnel, 0.03 mole (6.27 g) of the dihydrochloride of N,N-dimethyl paraphenylenediamine in 50 cc of water and 0.060 mole (13.7 g) of ammonium persulfate in 50 cc of water. At the end of this addition, the agitation is continued for 15 minutes and the above indoaniline which has precipitated is then filtered, washed with water, recrystallized in a mixture of dimethylformamide in water and dried under a vacuum. It exhibits a melting point of 226° C. The resulting reaction mixture there are introduced simultaneously, with good agitation and with the aid of a double funnel At the end of this addition the above indoaniline which has precipitated is then filtered washed with water recrystallized in a mixture of dimethylformamide in water dried under a vacuum
