Procedure: A solution of N-[4-(hydroxyiminomethyl)phenyl]-N'-ethoxycarbonylmethylurea in 25% methanolic sodium methoxide (1.0 equivalent) is treated at room temperature with 1.1 equivalent of crotyl bromide.
