Procedure: 2.2 g of 2-methoxycarbonylbenzenesulfonamide are added in portions at 0° C. to 2° C. to a mixture of 2.3 g of dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, 120 mg of 4-dimethylaminopyridine and 2.2 g of 4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine-2-carboxylic acid in 80 ml of absolute dichloromethane. The mixture is stirred for 0.5 hour at 0° C. and 2 hours at room temperature, and allowed to stand overnight. The urea which has precipitated is filtered off, the filtrate is concentrated in vacuo, and the residue is stirred for 0.5 hour with 100 ml of 2 N sodium carbonate solution. The aqueous phase is extracted using ether, and a pH of 2-3 is established using concentrated hydrochloric acid. The product which has precipitated is filtered off with suction and dried in vacuo. This gives 1.3 g of N-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)carbonyl]-2-methoxycarbonylbenzenesulfonamide of melting point 163°-165° C. (from ethyl acetate). to stand overnight The urea which has precipitated is filtered off the filtrate is concentrated in vacuo the residue is stirred for 0.5 hour with 100 ml of 2 N sodium carbonate solution The aqueous phase is extracted The product which has precipitated is filtered off with suction dried in vacuo

Procedure: An HCl stream is led under cooling into a suspension of 143.3 g (0.78 mol) in 600 ml absolute methanol until saturation. Subsequently the solution is refluxed yet two hours until the saccharine has gone completely into solution and the reaction has terminated. the reaction has terminated

Procedure: A mixture of 4.3 g of methyl 2-(aminosulfonyl)-benzoate, 4.2 g of 6,7-dihydro-2-isothiocyanato-4-methoxy-5H-cyclopentapyrimidine and 2.2 g of anhydrous potassium carbonate in 70 ml of acetone was warmed to 40° with stirring. After 2 hours, a thick precipitate formed and stirring was continued for three more hours at ambient temperature. The precipitate was filtered, suspended in 150 ml of water, stirred and the pH adjusted to 2 by the addition of hydrochloric acid. The white solid was filtered, washed with cold water and dried to yield 4.2 g of product. was warmed to 40° a thick precipitate formed stirring was continued for three more hours at ambient temperature The precipitate was filtered stirred the pH adjusted to 2 by the addition of hydrochloric acid The white solid was filtered washed with cold water dried
