Procedure: A solution of 50 g (0.45 mol) of pentyl isocyanate in 50 mL of dichloromethane is added to a mixture of 82 g (0.45 mol) of (3-bromophenyl)methylamine in 250 mL of dichloromethane in the presence of 20 mL (0.14 mol) of triethylamine. The reaction medium is heated at reflux for 3 days and then hydrolyzed in 200 mL of 1 N hydrochloric acid solution and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phases are combined, washed with water, with saturated sodium chloride solution and evaporated. 123 g (93%) of 1-(3-bromophenyl)-1-methyl-3-pentylurea are obtained. The reaction medium is heated at reflux for 3 days hydrolyzed in 200 mL of 1 N hydrochloric acid solution and extracted with ethyl acetate washed with water, with saturated sodium chloride solution evaporated

Procedure: 136 μL (1.0 mmol) of pentyl isocyanate are added to 213 mg (0.7 mmol) of ethyl 2-[1-(3′-methylaminobiphenyl-4-yl)meth-(E)-ylidene]butyrate. The reaction mixture is heated at 100° C. in an Emrys Optimizer microwave oven for 20 minutes. The residue is purified by chromatography on a column of silica eluted with a 70/30 heptane/ethyl acetate mixture. 291 mg (100%) of ethyl 2-[1-[3′-(3-pentyl-1-methylureido)biphenyl-4-yl]meth-(E)-ylidene]butyrate are obtained in the form of a yellowish oil. The residue is purified by chromatography on a column of silica eluted with a 70/30 heptane/ethyl acetate mixture

Procedure: To a solution of 2-(aminomethyl)-3-methylquinolin-4(1H)-one dihydrochloride (160 mg) in chloroform (5 mL) were sequentially added triethylamine (0.26 mL) and pentyl isocyanate (0.09 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 7 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: chloroform/methanol=20/1) to obtain 1-[(3-methyl-4-oxo-1,4-dihydroquinolin-2-yl)methyl]-3-pentylurea (117 mg). The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: chloroform/methanol=20/1)

Procedure: To a solution of [4-(benzyloxy)-3-methylquinolin-2-yl]methanol (105 mg) in THF (3 mL) was added pentylisocyanate (45 mg), followed by stirring at room temperature for 1 hour. Pentylisocyanate (20 mg) was further added to the reaction mixture, followed by stirring at room temperature for 16 hours. Methanol (2 mL) was added to the reaction mixture, and then the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: chloroform) to obtain [4-(benzyloxy)-3-methylquinolin-2-yl]methylpentylcarbamate (150 mg). by stirring at room temperature for 16 hours the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: chloroform)
