Procedure: 3,4'-Dichloropropiophenone was treated with potassium phthalimide, the product treated with ethylene glycol and then this product cleaved with hydrazine hydrate following the methods described in J. Org. Chem. 1972, 221-225, to give 2-[2-(4-chlorophenyl)-1,3-dioxolan-2-yl]ethylamine.

Procedure: When in the procedure of Example 13, 4-(5-methoxy-1-naphthalenyloxy)piperidine hydrochloride is substituted for 4-(2-naphthalenyloxy)piperidine hydrochloride and 3-chloro-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-propanone substituted for 4-chloro-1-phenyl-1-butanone, 3-[4-(5-methoxy-1-naphthalenyloxy)-1-piperidyl]-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-propanone hydrochloride is produced.

Procedure: The procedure given in Example 135 was followed using 3-isopropyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzimidazole-1-carboxylic acid (piperidin-4-ylmethyl)-amide and 3-chloro-4′-chloropropiophenone as a reactant, instead of 3-cyclopropyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzimidazole-1-carboxylic acid (piperidin-4-ylmethyl)-amide and 3-chloropropiophenone, to give the title compound.

Procedure: 4.12 Grams of 2-(4-chlorobenzoyl)ethyl chloride and 6.08 g of sodium iodide were dispersed in 50 ml of dimethylformamide, and heated at 50° C. for 1.5 hours. Then, to this dispersion was added 50 ml of dimethylformamide solution containing 3 g of 6-(1-piperazinylcarbonyl)-3,4-dihydrocarbostyril, and further 9.8 g of potassium carbonate was added thereto and reacted by heating at 70° C. for 3 to 4 hours. After the reaction was completed, the insoluble matters were removed by filtration, and the solvent in the filtrate was removed by evaporation under reduced pressure. The residue thus obtained was extracted with chloroform, and the extract was dried with anhydrous calcium sulfate, then concentrated. The thus obtained residue was purified by means of a silica gel column chromatography (eluent: dichloromethane:methanol=50:1), then recrystallized from ethanol-diethyl ether to yield 2.29 g of 6-{4-[2-(4-chlorobenzoyl)ethyl]-1-piperazinylcarbonyl}-3,4-dihydrocarbostyril. White powdery substance. was added reacted by heating at 70° C. for 3 to 4 hours the insoluble matters were removed by filtration the solvent in the filtrate was removed by evaporation under reduced pressure The residue thus obtained was extracted with chloroform the extract was dried with anhydrous calcium sulfate concentrated The thus obtained residue was purified by means of a silica gel column chromatography (eluent: dichloromethane:methanol=50:1) recrystallized from ethanol-diethyl ether
