Procedure: A solution of 20 g of ethyl chlorodifluoroacetate in 150 ml ether was treated with one equivalent of benzyl magnesium chloride in 63 ml THF at -40° C. under nitrogen. After 2 hours, the reaction was poured into aqueous NH4Cl and extracted with ether. Evaporation and distillation (0.1 mm Hg) of the residue gave 24.8 g of an oil which was used directly. extracted with ether Evaporation and distillation (0.1 mm Hg) of the residue

Procedure: A solution of 25 g of 3-bromochlorobenzene in 100 ml ether was added to a solution of 15.1 g of tetramethylenediamine, 52.4 ml of a 2.5M solution of n-butyllithium in hexane and 75 ml ether at -78° C. under nitrogen. After 1 hour, a solution of 31.0 g of ethyl chlorodifluoroacetate in 150 ml ether was added. After warming to room temperature, the reaction was poured into excess ammonium chloride solution and extracted with ether. The extracts were dried (Na2SO4) and evaporated. The residue was distilled (0.1 mm Hg) to give 14.7 g of an oil which was used directly. extracted with ether The extracts were dried (Na2SO4) evaporated The residue was distilled (0.1 mm Hg)

Procedure: Chloro-difluoro-acetic acid ethyl ester (13.8 μL, 0.10 mmol, 1.0 eq) is added at room temperature to a stirred solution of 3-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-benzo[1,4]thiazine-6-carboxylic acid {1-[2-(7-hydroxy-quinoxalin-2-yloxy)-ethyl]-piperidin-4-yl}-amide (50 mg, 0.10 mmol, 1.0 eq) in N,N-dimethylformamide (5 mL), followed by potassium carbonate (14.4 mg, 0.10 mmol, 1.0 eq). After 15 hours stirring at 70° C., solvent is evaporated and the residue is acidified with 1N hydrochloric acid aqueous solution and the resulting aqueous layer is extracted with ethyl acetate (3×10 mL). The combined organic layers are dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated to give a residue that is purified by preparative HPLC to afford 3-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-benzo[1,4]thiazine-6-carboxylic acid {1-[2-(7-difluoromethoxy-quinoxalin-2-yloxy)-ethyl]-piperidin-4-yl}-amide as a white lyophilizated powder (5 mg, 10% yield). solvent is evaporated the resulting aqueous layer is extracted with ethyl acetate (3×10 mL) The combined organic layers are dried over sodium sulfate filtered concentrated to give a residue that is purified by preparative HPLC
