Procedure: Decanoic acid (0.2 gm, 1.2 mmol) was treated with 4 eq NaHCO3, 0.1 eq Bu4NHSO4 and, 1.2 eq ClCH2OSO2Cl in 1:1 CH2Cl2:H2O. The reaction was stirred vigorously at 0° C. for 30 min then room temperature (“RT”) for 3 hrs. Aqueous workup yielded chloromethyldecanoate (yield 100%). room temperature (“RT”) for 3 hrs

Procedure: Decanoic acid (4 g, 23.2 mmol) was dissolved in an anhydrous dichloromethane solution (80 mL), and 1,1-carbonyldiimidazole (4.5 g, 27.9 mmol) was then added to the solution, followed by stirring for 1.5 hours. Subsequently, N,O-dimethylhydroxyamine hydrochloride (2.7 g, 27.9 mmol) was added to the reaction solution, and the obtained mixture was further stirred for 3 hours. After addition of distilled water, the reaction solution was extracted with dichloromethane two times. Anhydrous magnesium sulfate was added to the organic layer to dry it, and the resultant was filtrated and was then concentrated. The obtained residue was purified using column chromatography (hexane:ethyl acetate=8:1), so as to obtain N-methoxy-N-methyldecanamide (4.8 g, 97%) as an amide body in the form of a colorless transparent liquid. was then added to the solution the obtained mixture was further stirred for 3 hours the reaction solution was extracted with dichloromethane two times Anhydrous magnesium sulfate was added to the organic layer to dry it the resultant was filtrated was then concentrated The obtained residue was purified

Procedure: The acylated phenylalanine anilide imprint molecule was synthesized in three steps. (1) N-α-t-BOC-L-phenylalanine was coupled with 2-aminopyridine using DCC to give N-α-t-BOC-L-phenylalanine-2-aminopyridine. (2) The a-amine was then deprotected with TFA to give N-α-L-phenylalanine-2-aminopyridine.(3) To create a compound having the properties of a surfactant, the free amine was then acylated with decanoic acid using DCC to give N-α-decyl-L-phenylalanine-2-aminopyridine.

Procedure: Sorbitol decanoate was prepared by adding 380.80 grams of sorbitol and 302.0 grams of decanoic acid to a one-liter round bottom flask. 27.14 grams of 75% phosphoric acid were added. The agitator was turned on and the temperature was set to 150° C. The total reaction time was seven hours and ten minutes. The phosphoric acid was neutralized with 22.83 grams of calcium hydroxide and the solution as filtered to remove the calcium phosphate. The final product was analyzed and the free acid remaining was 7.50%. The density was 1.05 g/cc and the ash value was 1.00%. The degree of reaction completion was thus 76.0%. was set to 150° C the solution as filtered to remove the calcium phosphate The degree of reaction completion

Procedure: First, silver n-decanoate was prepared by the known procedure. Thus, commercial n-decanoic acid and sodium hydroxide were put in pure water and dissolved under heating at 60° C. to prepare sodium n-decanoate. Separately, an equivalent of silver nitrate was dissolved in pure water and the resulting solution was added to the above aqueous solution of sodium n-decanoate. The silver n-decanoate precipitating out was recovered with a suction filter and dried in a dryer. dissolved The silver n-decanoate precipitating out was recovered with a suction filter dried in a dryer
