Procedure: A mixture of 2-chloro-5-methyl-pyrimidin-4-ylamine (0.4 g, 2.8 mmol), 3-bromo-N-tert-butyl-benzenesulfonamide (1.0 g, 3.4 mmol), Pd2(dba)3 (0.17 g, 0.19 mmol), Xantphos (0.2 g, 3.5 mmol) and cesium carbonate (2.0 g, 6.1 mmol) was suspended in dioxane (25 mL) and heated at reflux under the argon atmosphere for 3 h. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and diluted with DCM (30 mL). The mixture was filtered and the filtrate concentrated in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in EtOAc and hexanes added until solid precipitated. After filtration, the title compound (1.2 g, 98%) was obtained as a light brown solid. It was used in the next step without purification.
