Procedure: A mixture of 4-phenoxymethyl-benzaldehyde described in Manufacturing Example 86-1-2 (3.8 g, 17.8 mmol), nitromethane (4.79 mL, 89 mmol), ammonium acetate (2.74 g, 35.6 mmol) and acetic acid (38 mL) was stirred for 3 hours at 100° C. This mixture was cooled to room temperature, concentrated under a reduced pressure, and diluted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water and saturated aqueous sodium chloride, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated under a reduced pressure to obtain the title compound (4.1 g). This mixture was cooled to room temperature concentrated under a reduced pressure diluted with ethyl acetate The organic layer was washed with water and saturated aqueous sodium chloride dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate filtered The filtrate was concentrated under a reduced pressure
