Procedure: Cellulose (20 g), sodium hydroxide (10 g), water (30 g), and ethanol (150 g) are charged into a 500 ml glass reactor. The resulting alkali cellulose is stirred 45 minutes at 25° C. Then monochloroacetic acid (15 g) and hexylchoride (1 g) are added and the temperature raised over time to 95° C. and held at 95° C. for 150 minutes. The reaction is cooled to 70° C., and then cooled to 25° C. Neutralization is accomplished by the addition of a sufficient amount of nitric acid/acetic acid to achieve a slurry pH of between 8 and 9. The slurry is filtered to obtain a hexylether of CMC. The reaction is cooled to 70° C. cooled to 25° C The slurry is filtered

Procedure: The present experiement was described as shown in the following typical experimental No. 63 in Table 13. The reaction was carried out under the same condition as in Example 3, except that the same amount of t-butyl chloride was, used as the hydrogen chloride source. A mixture of 2-chloropropane and t-butyl chloride having the mixing ratio of 1:6 was reacted with metallic silicon at 280° C. to give 16.1 g of reaction products. The reaction products contained 5.9 g (45.2%) of 1,1-dichloro-1-silaheptane and 1.4 g (9.0%) of 1,1,1-trichloro-1-silaheptane. As other by-products, 31.1 g (13.2%) of 1-chlorohexane which is remained unreacted, 1.1 g (17.9%) of hexene, 2.5 g of trichlorosilane, and unconfirmed materials were obtained. was reacted with metallic silicon at 280° C. to give 16.1 g of reaction products

Procedure: In the same apparatus and procedure as Example 1 above, 0.15 g (0.75 mmol) of tri-n-butylphosphine, 0.90 g (7.5 mmol) of 1-chlorohexane, and 3.90 ml (37.5 mmol) of methyldichlorosilane were reacted at 150° C. for 12 hrs. The resulting mixture was distilled to give 0.25 g of 2,2-dichloro-2-silaoctane (yield:16%). The resulting mixture was distilled

Procedure: In a 25 ml oven dried stainless steel tube, 0.15 g (0.75 mmol) of tri-n-butylphosphine, 0.90 g (7.5 mmol) of 1-chlorohexane, and 5.08 g (37.5 mmol) of trichlorosilane were added under a dry nitrogen atmosphere. After sealing the cylinder with a valve, the reactor was maintained at 150° C. for 12 hrs. The resulting mixture was distilled to yield 1.1 g of n-hexyltrichlorosilane (bp; 215-219° C., yield; 65%). The resulting mixture was distilled

Procedure: 3-Acetylaminoaniline (15 parts) was reacted with n-hexyl chloride (12.1 parts) at 100° to 110° C. for 4 hours in the presence of anhydrous sodium carbonate (5.3 parts) to obtain 3-acetylamino-N-hexylaniline. Thereafter, reaction was further continued at 120° to 130° C. for 4 hours with addition of n-amyl chloride (10.7 parts) and anhydrous sodium carbonate (5.3 parts) to obtain 3-acetylamino-N-n-hexyl-N-n-pentylaniline (coupling component). In the same manner as in Example 1, 2-cyano-4-nitro-6-chloroaniline was diazotized and coupled with the above coupling component to obtain 42.5 parts of a dye (6).
