Procedure: To a stirred solution of 2-methylundecanoic acid (0.40 g, 2.0 mmol) in anhydrous dichloromethane (20 ml) and a catalytic amount of DMF (approximately 0.02 ml) was added oxalyl chloride (0.4 mL, 4.6 mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred vigorously for 2 hours at room temperature. The organic solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue (80) was used in the next step.
