Procedure: To a solution of 6-2 (31 mg, 0.15 mmol), DIPEA (77 μL, 0.44 mmol), and CH3CN (1.5 mL) at 0° C. was added dropwise a solution of triphosgene (15 mg, 52 mmol) in CH3CN (150 μL). Afer 30 min., a solution of 1-8 (43 mg, 0.15 mmol) and DIPEA (77 μL, 0.44 mmol) in DMF (0.8 mL) was added, followed by removal of the cooling bath. After 16 hrs, the reaction mixture was poured into EtOAc and sat. NaHCO3. The EtOAc portion was then washed with H2O and brine, dried (MgSO4), and concentrated. Flash chromatography (silica, 10% ethanol/EtOAc) gave 6-3 as a colorless oil. followed by removal of the cooling bath the reaction mixture was poured into EtOAc and sat. NaHCO3 The EtOAc portion was then washed with H2O and brine dried (MgSO4) concentrated

Reaction mixture was diluted with water (200 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (2×100 mL). The combined organic layer was washed with water (2×100 mL), brine (100 mL) and dried over Na2SO4 filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residues was purified by column chromatography using 100-200 silica gel by eluting with 20% ethyl acetate in petroleum ether to afford ethyl 2-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)piperidin-4-yl)acetate (600 mg, 19.86% yield) as color less liquid. LCMS (ES) m/e 249.20 (M+H)+. Procedure: To a solution of piperidin-4-yl-acetic acid ethyl ester hydrochloride (24 mmol) in anhydrous DMSO (20 mL) is added 1-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-ethanone (24 mmol) and potassium carbonate (24 mmol).
