Procedure: 3,4-Dihydroisoquinolinium perchlorate (4.6 g) and 2-isopropylidenecyclohexanone (3 g) were dissolved in dimethylforamide (12 ml) and refluxed for 12 hours. The reaction mixture was cooled, diluted with ethanol, and filtered. The product was purified by recrystallization from methanol.
