Procedure: A solution of 4-chloro-2,5-difluoro-benzoyl chloride (5 g, 23.70 mmol) in dichloromethane (25 mL) was added dropwise to a mixture of 2-methoxypyridin-4-amine (2.94 g, 23.70 mmol), pyridine (5.75 mL, 71.10 mmol) and dichloromethane (100.0 mL) at 0° C. The mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and was stirred at that temperature for 43 hours. The mixture was poured into 1N HCl (50 mL). The mixture was filtered using dichloromethane and the solid was isolated. The solid was dried under vacuum to yield 4-chloro-2,5-difluoro-N-(2-methoxy-4-pyridyl)benzamide (6.2 g, 88%) as a pink solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 10.89 (s, 1H), 8.16-8.05 (m, 1H), 7.97-7.75 (m, 2H), 7.29-7.15 (m, 2H), 3.85 (s, 3H) ppm. ESI-MS m/z calc. 298.03. found 299.3 (M+1)+; Retention time: 1.43 minutes (3 minutes run). The mixture was filtered the solid was isolated The solid was dried under vacuum

Procedure: 38.5 g 4-chloro-2,5-difluorobenzoic acid (0.2 mole) was placed in a 250 mL, 3-necked roundbottom flask equipped with a magnetic stirbar, a thermometer, and a water-cooled condenser. 238 g thionyl chloride was added in one lot. The mixture was stirred and heated on a water bath. At about 58°-60° C. the solid dissolved with evolution of gas and formation of foam. The mixture was stirred and maintained at 60° C. until all the solid dissolved - about 30 minutes. It was then heated in a boiling water bath to reflux and held there for 2 hours. equipped with a magnetic stirbar heated on a water bath At about 58°-60° C. the solid dissolved with evolution of gas and formation of foam The mixture was stirred dissolved - about 30 minutes It was then heated in a boiling water bath to reflux

Procedure: 4-Chloro-2,5-difluorobenzoyl chloride (29.6 mg, 0.140 mmol) (Oakwood, Cat. #: 001628) was added to a solution of (2R)-1,1,1-trifluoropropan-2-amine hydrochloride (20.0 mg, 0.134 mmol) (SynQuest Lab, Cat. #: 3130-7-R1) in methylene chloride (4.0 mL) at 0° C. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min., then worked up with saturated aqueous NaHCO3, and extracted with dichloromethylene. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the desired product which was directly used in the next step reaction without further purification. LCMS (M+H)+: m/z=288.0/289.9. extracted with dichloromethylene The combined organic layers were washed with brine dried over MgSO4 filtered concentrated under reduced pressure
