Procedure: (Step 1) To chlorosulfonic acid (50 ml) was added N-(3-fluorobenzyl)acetamide (11.8 g) by small portions under ice-cooling. The mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature, and stirred at 70° C. for 3 hr. The reaction mixture was poured into ice water to quench the reaction, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and filtered. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give 2-[(acetylamino)methyl]-4-fluorobenzenesulfonyl chloride (14.1 g) as a white solid. cooling to quench the reaction extracted with ethyl acetate The extract was washed with saturated brine dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate filtered The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure
