Procedure: Methyl ester of DGLA is recovered preferably by extracting the above-mentioned treated solution with an organic solvent such as hexane, an ether such as ethyl ether, or an ester such as ethyl acetate. Next, the resulting extract is dried on, for example, anhydrous sodium sulfate, and the solvent is distilled off preferably under reduced pressure to obtain a mixture comprising fatty acid esters. This mixture contains, in addition to the desired fatty acid HGLA methyl ester, other fatty acid methyl esters, such as methyl parmitate, methyl stearate, methyl oleate and the like. To isolate methyl ester of DGLA from the mixture of these fatty acid methyl esters, column chromatography, low temperature crystallization, the urea-inclusion method, the liquid/liquid countercurrent chromatography method, and the like can be used alone or in combination. Procedure: Another possible route to produce different grade of palm diesel is by using partial vacuum fractionation of palm oil methyl esters. Under pressure of 25 Pa and temperature ranging between 145° C. to 154° C., mixture of methyl esters consisting 6.0% methyl palmitate, 8.5% methyl stearate, 69.5% methyl oleate and 16.0% methyl linoleate was obtained. This fraction of methyl esters exhibits pour point of below 0° C. Another possible route to produce different grade of palm diesel ranging between 145° C. to 154° C.

Procedure: A blanker oil generally similar to that of Example 3 was prepared except that 300 grams of methyl stearate was substituted for the methyl oleate. The blanker oil thus produced gave results similar to that of the material of Example 3 with regard to surface quality and electrocoat primer compatibility. The blanker oil thus produced gave

Procedure: As in Example 1, 597 g (2 mol) of stearic acid methyl ester (94%), 245.5 g (4 mol) of ethanolamine and 4 g (0.012 mol, 0.6 mol-%) of titanium tetrabutylate were reacted under nitrogen and normal pressure at 140°-175° C. to form stearic acid ethanolamine with removal of methanol by distillation. The excess ethanolamine was then distilled off in a water jet pump vacuum (20 hPa) at 115°-200° C. The temperature was then increased in an oil pump vacuum (0.007 hPa) to 220°-300° C., 2-heptadecyl-2-oxazoline and water distilling over.
