Procedure: To a mixture of 4-bromo-2-chlorobenzenethiol (1.68 g, 7.54 mmol) and Cs2CO3 (4.09 g, 12.6 mmol) in DMF (8.98 mL) at room temperature was added 3-methylbut-3-en-1-yl diphenyl phosphate (2.00 g, 6.28 mmol, synthesized according to a procedure in U.S. Pat. No. 5,006,550, 9 Apr. 1991) dropwise via a syringe. The reaction mixture was heated to 85° C. for 1 hour. It was then allowed to cool to room temperature and diluted with water (20.0 mL). The resulting mixture was extracted with EtOAc:hexanes mixture (1:1, 75.0 mL, 2×) and the combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated under vacuum. The crude mixture was purified by silica gel chromatography eluting with 0-10% EtOAc/hexanes to give the desired product as a colorless oil. synthesized to cool to room temperature The resulting mixture was extracted with EtOAc hexanes mixture (1:1, 75.0 mL, 2×) and the combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4 filtered concentrated under vacuum The crude mixture was purified by silica gel chromatography eluting with 0-10% EtOAc/hexanes

Procedure: CAS #1252633-25-2 (5.3 g, 12.3 mmol, Eq: 1.00) was dissolved in propionitrile (40 ml) and 4-bromo-2-chlorobenzenethiol (3.3 g, 14.8 mmol, Eq: 1.20) was added. Now triethyl amine (2.49 g, 3.43 ml, 24.6 mmol, Eq: 2.00) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at reflux over night. The reaction mixture was poured into 100 ml 10% Na2CO3 and extracted with EtOAc (2×100 mL). The organic layer was extracted with 100 ml 0.1N HCl, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and evaporated. The crude material was purified by flash chromatography (silica gel, 120 g, 0% to 30% AcOEt in heptane in 30 min) to yield a colorless oil (4.72 g; 85%). m/z=352.1 [M+H-Boc]+. at reflux over night extracted with EtOAc (2×100 mL) The organic layer was extracted with 100 ml 0.1N HCl dried over Na2SO4 filtered evaporated The crude material was purified by flash chromatography (silica gel, 120 g, 0% to 30% AcOEt in heptane in 30 min) to yield a colorless oil (4.72 g; 85%)
