Procedure: 0.3 mol % of sodium salt of caprolactam and 0.3 mol % of the co-catalyst of the Example 13 were dissolved in molten caprolactam. The mixture was heated to 160° - 163°C for 120 minutes. The polymerizate contained almost theoretical equilibrium amount of the polyamide. Similar result was obtained with laurolactam, using the same amount of 1,3,5,5-tetramethyl-2,4,6-piperidine-trione at equal conditions of polymerization. The mixture was heated to 160° - 163°C for 120 minutes Similar result

Procedure: Terephthaloyl chloride (203 g, i mol) is added in the course of 30 minutes to a solution of ω-laurolactam (403 g, 2 mol) in 1600 ml of cyclohexane and 475 ml of pyridine at room temperature. The mixture is then refluxed for 3 h. After cooling, the flask contents are poured into 3 1 of ice water and the resulting light yellow precipitate is filtered off by suction and dried. Yield 498 g (95%). The mixture is then refluxed for 3 h After cooling the resulting light yellow precipitate is filtered off by suction dried

Procedure: To 21.7 g of 2-azacyclotridecanone in 200 ml of dry benzene was added dropwise 15.3 g of phosphorus oxychloride. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours after which 19.8 g of cis-2-phenylcyclopentylamine hydrochloride was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours and refluxed for 24 hours. The resulting homogeneous solution was washed with 2 N NaOH, 2 N HCl and saturated NaCl solution, dried over sodium sulfate and the solvent evaporated. The resulting oily product crystallized from acetone and was recrystallized from methanol-acetone to give the desired product, M.P. 156°-159° C. was added refluxed for 24 hours The resulting homogeneous solution was washed with 2 N NaOH, 2 N HCl and saturated NaCl solution dried over sodium sulfate the solvent evaporated The resulting oily product crystallized from acetone was recrystallized from methanol-acetone

Procedure: 19.7 g of laurolactam in 100 ml of chloroform were cooled to 0° C. 20.8 g of phosphorus pentachloride were added portionwise over a period of 40 minutes while keeping the temperature below 5° C. There was then added 0.2 g of iodine, followed by 16.0 g (0.2 mol) of bromine over a period of 20 minutes. The mixture was heated under reflux for 4 hours, cooled, evaporated and poured on to ice. The product was taken up in chloroform, washed with sodium hydrogen sulfate solution, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and evaporated. Crystallization from chloroform/ n-hexane yielded 12.65 g (46%) of 3-bromolaurolactam of melting point 155°-157° C. the temperature below 5° C The mixture was heated under reflux for 4 hours cooled evaporated poured on to ice washed with sodium hydrogen sulfate solution dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate evaporated Crystallization from chloroform/ n-hexane
