3-bromo-1-(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl)pyrrolidin-2-one

Procedure: Sodium azide (0.45 g) was added to a solution of 3-bromo-1-(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl)-2-pyrrolidinone (2.00 g) in DMF (16 ml) and the mixture left to stand overnight. A further portion of sodium azide (0.15 g) was added and the mixture again left to stand overnight. The mixture was poured into water giving a white solid which was isolated by filtration, dissolved in ether, dried (MsSO4) and concentrated in vacuo to give the sub-title compound as an off-white solid (2.10 g) which was used directly in the next step. the mixture left the mixture again left to stand overnight was isolated by filtration dried (MsSO4) concentrated in vacuo
