Procedure: The title compound of Example 2 (5.0 g, 17.0 mmol) in 100 mL of CH2Cl2 was combined with molecular sieves #5A (5 g), the product of Example 17 (3.8 g, 17.0 mmol), and triethylamine (Et3N, 2.4 mL, 17.2 mmol). After stirring the reaction at room temperature for 17 hours, another 3.1 g of the product of Example 17 was added and stirring was continued for another 17 hours. The reaction was filtered and the filtrate was stripped of all solvent under reduced pressure to yield a white foam solid that was purified by HPLC on silica gel to give 7.4 g of the title material as a white solid. the reaction at room temperature for 17 hours stirring The reaction was filtered to yield a white foam solid that was purified by HPLC on silica gel

Procedure: To a 65 g sample of 1,2-diamino-2-methylpropane dissolved in 650 mL of toluene cooled to -5° C. was added dropwise over 45 minutes a toluene solution (200 mL) of benzylchloroformate (52 g, 1.18 mmol). The reaction was warmed to room temperature and stirred for 2 hours before it was filtered and the filtrate was stripped of all solvent under reduced pressure. The residue, dissolved in CH2Cl2 (100 mL), was filtered and the filtrate again was stripped of all solvent to produce the title compound (54 g) as a viscous oil. The reaction was warmed to room temperature was filtered The residue, dissolved in CH2Cl2 (100 mL) was filtered

Procedure: The title compound was prepared in a similar manner to that described in Example 1 using 3-(2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-galactopyranosyloxy)-4-({4-[(1E)-3-carboxyprop-1-enyl]phenyl}methyl)-5-isopropyl-1H-pyrazole and 2-amino-1-benzyloxycarbonylamino-2-(methyl)propane instead of 3-(2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy)-4-({4-[(1E)-3-carboxyprop-1-enyl]phenyl}methyl)-5-isopropyl-1H-pyrazole and glycinamide hydrochloride, respectively.

Procedure: The HCl salt of benzyl 2-amino-2-methylpropylcarbamate (1.0 g, 3.87 mmol) was taken up in CH3CN (15 mL) along with HATU (1.60 g, 4.2 mmol), salicylic acid (535 mg. 3.87 mmol) and DIEA (2.0 mL, 11.6 mmol). The resulting reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 h. It was then concentrated under reduced pressure and diluted with EtOAc. The organic layer was washed with saturated aqueous NaHCO3, brine, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was purified by chromatography (30% EtOAc/pentane) to afford benzyl 2-(2-hydroxybenzamido)-2-methylpropylcarbamate (340 mg, 26%). Mass calculated for C19H22N2O4: 342.16; found: [M+H]+=343.
