N-(3-formamido-2,2-dimethylpropyl)formamide

Procedure: To a mixture of 250 mL of ether and 10 g of LiAlH4 (95%) at 0° C., 9.88 g (62.5 mmol) N,N′-diformyl-2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diamine was added in small portions. After the addition, the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 h. The mixture was then hydrolyzed with ether and water, the white solid removed by filtration through Celite, and the filtrate dried over anhydrous Na2SO4. After removal of the solvent, the product was obtained as a colorless oil. MS (m/e): 131 (M+). After the addition hydrolyzed with ether and water, the white solid removed by filtration through Celite the filtrate dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 After removal of the solvent the product was obtained as a colorless oil
