Procedure: 2-(3,3-Difluoropyrrolidin-1-yl)-3-fluorobenzaldehyde (400 mg, 1.745 mmol) was taken in toluene (15 mL) and 3,3-dimethylbutan-1-amine (176.6 mg, 234.8 μL, 1.745 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was refluxed overnight with a Dean Stark trap to remove the water. The reaction mixture was then concentrated and used in the next step without further purification.
