Procedure: A mixture of 3,4,5-trimethoxytoluene (9.11 g; 50 mmol), octane (25 ml) and iron(III)chloride (50 mg) is stirred at 105° C., and percolating nitrogene 2,6-dichlorobenzoylchloride (12.04 g; 57.5 mmol) is added dropwise within 15 minutes. The mixture is kept at 105° C. and stirred for another 15 minutes. After cooling to 50° C. ethylacetate (50 ml) is added, the mixture shaken twice with 2N hydrochloric acid, once with water and dried. The ethylacetate is evaporated (70° C.) and the liquid cooled with stirring. At 50° C. petrolether (50 ml) is added. The white crystals formed are sucked off, washed with petrolether and dried. Yield 12.55 g (70.7%), mp. 92° C. is added dropwise within 15 minutes is kept at 105° C. stirred for another 15 minutes is added dried The ethylacetate is evaporated (70° C.) the liquid cooled with stirring At 50° C. petrolether (50 ml) is added The white crystals formed washed with petrolether dried

Procedure: A solution of 9.4 g of crude 5-methyl-2-propargyloxyphenylsulfonylisocyanate in 50 ml of absolute tetrahydrofuran is added dropwise at room temperature, within 10 minutes, to a solution of 3.7 g of 2-amino-4-chloro-6-methoxy-pyrimidine and 0.1 g of 1,4-diazadicyclo[2.2.2]octane in 60 ml of absolute tetrahydrofuran, in the course of which the temperature rises slightly. The reaction solution is stirred for 18 hours at room temperature; it is then filtered, and concentrated by evaporation. The residue is crystallised from ethyl acetate to thus obtain 5.8 g of N-(5-methyl-2-propargyloxyphenylsulfonyl)-N'-(4-chloro-6-methoxy-pyrimidin-2-yl)-urea, m.p. 202°-204° C. it is then filtered concentrated by evaporation The residue is crystallised from ethyl acetate to thus obtain 5.8 g of N-(5-methyl-2-propargyloxyphenylsulfonyl)-N'-(4-chloro-6-methoxy-pyrimidin-2-yl)-urea, m.p. 202°-204° C.

Procedure: To a solution of (±)3-methanesulphonyloxy-1-azabiyclo[2.2.2]octane (1.3 g; 6.3 mmol) in dry DMF (20 mL) was added 1,2,4-triazole, sodium salt (1.5 g; 21 mmol). The resulting mixture was refluxed for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and concentrated to dryness. The residue was taken up into 1M Na2CO3 and extracted into CH2Cl2 (3×50 mL). The organics were combined, dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and evaporated to yield 0.57 g of a crude yellow oil. MPLC (Al2O3 ; 2% MeOH/CH2Cl2) provided two fractions, the first containing a byproduct and the second containing the triazole. Yield 300 mg (27%). The resulting mixture was refluxed for 2 hours concentrated to dryness extracted into CH2Cl2 (3×50 mL) dried (Na2SO4) filtered evaporated to yield 0.57 g of a crude yellow oil the first containing a byproduct
